United Rock Goes Above & Beyond
At United Rock Products, we believe in going the extra mile to be a good neighbor. So much, that it's a part of our culture. In 2007, we paved the majority of the driving surfaces at our Irwindale facility. This solution has reduced the amount of trackout onto the public roads, significantly reduced fugitive dust, and reduced the amount of water usage which in the end, has created a cleaner, sustainable environment for all of our customers, employees, and most importantly...our neighbors and surrounding communities.
Effective air pollution rules are another way that United Rock Products works to improve the quality of life in the Greater Los Angeles Air Basin. We have worked extensively with the South Coast Air Quality Management District on Rule 1157, Rule 1155, and upwind-downwind air sampling. By cohesively working with the SCAQMD, we lead the way in promoting cost effective measures that help clean the air while keeping the cost of construction aggregates to a minimum.

Due to the scarcity of water in the San Gabriel Valley, in early 2009, United Rock Products installed a belt press which gives them the ability to recycle up to 100% of their water. This in turn makes more water available for the surrounding communities. Due to our efforts, United Rock Products won "Business of the Year" by the Upper San Gabriel Water District for it's efforts to conserve water and its active involvement in the community, as well as, a Water Conservation Award from the Irwindale Chamber of Commerce's Environmental Awards Expo in 2009.
These are just a few of the ways that United Rock Products is doing its part to create a sustainable environment.
