Sustaining Communities Through Inert Fill & Reclamation Services

United Rock Products takes great care to repurpose construction debris to safely refill quarries at the end of their life cycle.

This important reclamation process returns land to its natural state so that communities in Irwindale and Los Angeles can repurpose and develop on it again.

Construction Materials We Can Repurpose

The Reclamation Process

An ideal quarry is selected at the end of its life cycle.

This important reclamation process returns land to its natural state so that communities in Irwindale and Los Angeles can repurpose and develop on it again.

The quarry is filled with solid inert waste and monitored for contaminants.

Solid inert waste is material that will not decompose or undergo any biological, chemical, physical, or radiological transformation. This includes all biodegradable, hazardous, or organic materials.

Acceptable Materials: Concrete, Brick, Clay, Soil

Each load is monitored via high-definition cameras, and special “sniffing-sensors” are placed near the soil to detect any contamination. If a load is considered over the maximum allowable limit set forth by local, state, and federal agencies, it will not be accepted.

The property is returned to its natural state and can be repurposed by the community.

Once the site is restored to its fully-reclaimed, natural state, it can be developed into an industrial or commercial property. This provides sustainable tax revenue for the city and enables us to participate in the revitalization of our community.

Why United Rock?

United Rock Products, located in Irwindale, California manufactures high quality construction aggregate because we have direct access to some of the best quality rock and gravel found in the Western United States.

Thanks to the nearby mountains, the San Gabriel River and a couple thousand years of rocks being deposited via the river, Irwindale now sits on a rock pile measuring about 1,000 feet deep called the San Gabriel Valley Alluvial Fan. This provides the key materials to build and maintain infrastructure in the Los Angeles Basin.
