Avenue "G" Rail Lead Track & Channel Project
This project, located in the City of Hesperia, was vital to the continued economic success of the city as it provided direct access to over 200 acres of industrial property making it a vital hub to logistics operations of all sizes. Hesperia is located near Interstate 15 and Highway 395- both are major corridors linking the seaports of Southern California with Northern California, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington to the Canadian border via rail and truck.
Sully-Miller’s role on this project included clearing and grubbing nearly 15 acres of land while making sure to preserve environmentally-sensitive Joshua Trees located throughout the jobsite. Once cleared, excavation began on the channel soon to be lined with concrete. While grading continued, Sully-Miller Constructed nearly 260 linear feet of 60” triple barrel culvert and 75 linear feet of 48” double barrel culvert. Construction of these two culverts would play a key role in making sure the project would stay ahead of schedule as the foundation for the railroad track would need to be placed across each of the culverts. Coordination with key agencies (BNSF, Verizon, SoCal Gas, and Hesperia Water District) was vital to the project staying on schedule due to relocation of conflicting utilities.
Throughout the entire construction process, Sully-Miller conducted all of its operations in a safe and efficient manner. The project was celebrated at a ribbon cutting in April 2012 where a brand new $2.5M BNSF engine “cut” the ribbon attended by local business leaders, BNSF Executives and dignitaries. Sully-Miller is proud to be a part of this project which will help create economic growth and prosperity to the City of Hesperia and businesses, local and beyond.
