Sully-Miller Contracting Company at the SCAG 2014 Regional Conference & General Assembly
Once again, Sully-Miller Contracting Company will be participating in the annual SCAG Regional Conference and General Assembly.
SCAG is the nation's largest metropolitan planning organization, representing six counties (Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura), 191 cities in an area covering more than 38,000 square miles and more than 18 million residents. SCAG undertakes a variety of planning and policy initiatives to encourage a more sustainable Southern California now and in the future.
May 1st and 2nd is the SCAG’s annual Regional Conference and General Assembly. 2014’s emphasis is “Partnering for Prosperity: Technology's Impact on Mobility and Opportunity” which aims to explore how rapidly emerging technologies may revolutionize the way we presently think about moving people and goods. Additionally, the 2014 Regional Conference & General Assembly presents meaningful regional coordination and networking opportunities to all participants.
Sully-Miller’s Business Development Manager, Jon Layne, will represent the Sully-Miller Group as a whole. Sully-Miller has performed work for nearly every member and agency of the SCAG. Jon Layne will showcase FiberMat® and award-winning projects built by Sully-Miller as well as sustainable products manufactured by Blue Diamond Materials like: Warm-Mix Asphalt, Rubberized Asphalt, Porous Asphalt (to prevent storm water runoff) as agencies try to meet USGBC LEED status and SB375 reductions in greenhouse gases.
Jon will educate attendees of asphalt’s ability to minimize the impact to surrounding communities through quicker construction compared to other pavements - as well as asphalt’s benefits as a perpetual pavement because it endures for 50 years and longer. .
Additionally, Sully-Miller Contracting Company believes in the need for long-term funding to finance our transportation infrastructure. Jon Layne will take advantage of this forum to express those views.
The Regional Council and General Assembly meetings on Thursday, May 1, 2014 are open to the public at no cost.
