Again, Sully-Miller Contracting Company is the "B.E.S.T" in 2014
The American Public Works Association promotes professional excellence and awareness through education, advocacy, and the exchange of knowledge. Each year at the B.E.S.T. award ceremonies, the APWA also recognizes achievements of those doing exceptional work.
In 2014, Sully-Miller Contracting Company was again recognized by the APWA Southern California Chapter as being the "BEST." Their work was considered to be representative of the award’s principals which are “Building Excellence; Shaping Tomorrow.” The Southern California Chapter of APWA presented the awards during the organization’s 15th Annual Public Works Awards luncheon on December 11. 2014.
Sully-Miller’s award winning categories were Transportation and Recreational-Specialty. The Southern California APWA chapter judged Sully-Miller on criteria such as cost effectiveness, timeliness, project planning and execution, and how the project impacted and improved the community.

Project: West Anaheim Street Improvement Project
Agency: Port of Long Beach
The Port of Long Beach, in partnership with the Long Beach Public Works Department, improved West Anaheim Street from the Los Angeles River to westerly City limit. The purpose of the project was to address accessibility deficiencies for pedestrians, and to rehabilitate the deteriorated pavement. The project included long term water quality improvements, pavement reconstruction, installation of parkway and median landscaping, and improvements to sidewalks, driveways, bus stops, and access for the disabled.
Project: LA Waterfront Downtown Harbor Landside and Rail Improvements

The port’s Downtown Harbor Plaza and Town Square, which was unveiled in June 2014, is a remarkable transformation of 1.2 acres of waterfront along Harbor Boulevard in San Pedro between 5th and 6th streets, with modifications to Berths 84-86. Previously a parking lot, it is now a harbor inlet for recreational vessels surrounded by a public plaza and pedestrian promenade. Sully-Miller Contracting Company was involved in nearly all aspects of the project.
