FiberMat: Sully-Miller Contracting Co. Enters the Pavement Preservation Market in a BIG Way!

After 87 years of building roads, Sully-Miller Contracting Co. has decided to enter into the Pavement Preservation Market. Due to California's State Budget crisis and in these difficult economic times, local and state agencies are looking for alternative, cost-effective solutions to their roads and highways without having the funds necessary to perform complete rehabilitations even with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds.

Sully-Miller recognized these needs and decided to start a Pavement Preservation Division in February of 2010. Mike Silva, Sully-Miller's new Pavement Preservation Manager, has over 20 years experience in the Pavement Preservation industry and will help in growing this new division statewide and beyond. New Pavement Preservation equipment has been obtained and Sully-Miller will utilize its own experienced and diversified crews on the job to exceed the customer's needs. In the office, Bob Maulucci will head up the estimating for this new division.

This also gave Sully-Miller the opportunity to utilize Colas' technical expertise and proven technologies in the Pavement Preservation industry. FiberMat®, which is 100% recyclable unlike most competitors products, is a highly-productive, environmentally sustainable, economical, and cost-effective technique for treating and preventing the recurrence of pavement cracking, utilizing a technologically advanced machine which Sully-Miller has acquired. Both local and state agencies have expressed their continued interest in the FiberMat® process and Sully-Miller is currently performing ongoing demonstrations and test strips.

In just four months, Sully-Miller Contracting Co. has been awarded over $4 million in Pavement Preservation jobs and continues to obtain more work throughout California.
