Sully-Miller Contracting Join Forces with Long Beach Organic to Sow Seeds of Change

On August 1, 2009; Sully-Miller Contracting Co. joined with Long Beach Organic, a local community group, in the groundbreaking of its 5th community garden; the Wrigley Village Community Garden located at 2044 Pacific Ave in the City of Long Beach. Sully-Miller donated labor, equipment and materials to remove an existing concrete slab blocking the group from starting the project. Long time Sully-Miller vendors Con-Lee Equipment and C.P.R. Trucking also donated their labor and equipment time.

The gardens are community spaces where residents can learn about organic growing practices, composting and mulch. The community benefit from eating locally grown organic produces which is also low cost for the growers. Sully-Miller recognizes the important role that community gardens play in helping to produce nutritious food and greener space. Since being founded in 1929 in the City of Long Beach, Sully-Miller has strive to work with local community group like Long Beach Organic to better not only the city but the people that live there.
