Sully- Miller takes Responsibility in Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Sully-Miller, SCE and its customers are the nation's leaders in reducing greenhouse gases (GHG) through energy efficiency. California's Energy Action Plan makes energy efficiency and demand response the first resources in our "loading order". Over the past five years, our customers have saved 5 billion kWh's, enough energy to power 725,000 homes for an entire year. Reducing GHG emissions by more than two million metric tons, the equivalent of removing 350,000 cars from the road.
Over the past three years, Sully-Miller Contracting Company has contributed significantly by participating in Demand Response Programs and Energy Efficiency Incentive Programs. In 2006, John Linnborn and Robert Johnson worked directly with SCE's Account Executive and Field Engineers where comprehensive energy efficiency audits were performed to identify energy saving opportunities for South Gate, Inglewood, and Irwindale asphalt plants. Sully-Miller has received more than $70,000 in incentives for lighting retrofits, and the installation of variable frequency drives (VFD's) on fan motors.
Demand response gives Sully-Miller the ability to reduce or adjust electricity use in a given time period or shift usage to another time in response to a price signal, a financial incentive, or emergency signal.
Since 2007, Sully-Miller saved more than $263,000 in energy costs by participating in SCE's Critical Peak Pricing (CPP) Program for both Irwindale and South Gate plants. Effective May 2009, the Victorville plant is now participating on the CPP program, saving an estimated $41,000 in energy costs annually.
