Partnering with California Polytechnic University Pomona
Sully-Miller Contracting Company has a long standing, very successful relationship with California Polytechnic University in Pomona. One of the ways we have developed our relationship is through our participation and sponsorship of the Cal Poly Construction Engineering Department annual student recognition banquet. Participating in campus career fairs allows Sully-Miller the opportunity to conduct one-on-one interviews with current Cal Poly students.
Through this relationship, we have helped students by selecting them to participate in our internship program where they gain hands on experience in the field of construction. Our internship program allows students to learn about construction from many different aspects: estimating, quality control, project engineering, materials (aggregate and asphalt production), accounting and human resources. Additionally, these students learn through the mentorship of Sully-Miller professionals. We view this relationship with Cal Poly as a two way street.
Through our relationship with the University and our successful internship program, we have interfaced and hired several talented Cal Poly graduates. This program not only helps the students learn and develop their careers, it helps Sully-Miller add valuable employees to their team.
